Spring is finally here! Time to celebrate! But wait, what about that dry, itchy, flakey skin? After layering on heavy creams, serums and oils to replenish your skin over the dreary winter nights, it’s time to prep your face for sunnier days ahead!

So how do we transition our skin care routine for Spring? Here are 8 great ways to do just that so you can get healthy, gorgeous skin just in time for summer!

1. Swap your Moisturizer for a lighter one.
Try a water-based formula that will do the trick and keep your face feeling lighter and brighter.

2. Use an SPF.
Now that the cold wintery days are behind us, we are spending more time outdoors. So it’s important to use an SPF – separate from your moisturizer – that’s at least SPF 25 50tto protect your face from sun damage.

3. Exfoliate.
When our skin is extra dry, it’s beneficial to exfoliate all that dead skin and unclogblock your pores for a fresher look.

4. Throw out expired make-up and moisturizers.
Take a look through your make-up bag and get rid of anything that is 6-months old (or older). Old products can host a buildup of bacteria, leading to clogged pores and dull skin.

5. Replace your heavy winter moisturizer with a light tinted foundation.
It makes for a perfect substitute that will give you a springtime glow!

6. Increase your water intake.
Water really does wonders for your skin. The more water you drink, the easier it will be to keep your skin from getting dry and flakey.

7. Eat seasonally.
Now that local fresh fruits and veggies are back in the grocery stores and tasting even better, change up your diet to include lettuce, broccoli, grapefruit, carrots, apples, and watermelon. Studies have found that citrus fruits are especially helpful for skin health.

8. Stay active.
Get into a routine of hitting the gym, going for a walk or trying a new yoga class. Exercise increases blood flow, which helps maintain healthy skin cells. Happy skin cells = happy skin!
