Skin care tips for healthy skin

We all want flawless, glowing, youthful looking skin. But how do we get it? Healthy skin can be achieved with good skin care along with healthy lifestyle choices. These actions also help to delay aging and prevent different skin issues.

Here are some tips that will help create a roadmap to healthy, stronger skin:

Eat a healthy diet

What you eat can directly affect the health and appearance of your skin. A healthy diet helps you look and feel your best.

Depending on your unique body type, you may have food aversions, but generally speaking, eating fruits, vegetables, whole grains and lean proteins are a safe bet.

Hydrate

Drinking plenty of water helps keep your skin hydrated.

Water helps clear the toxins that cause inflammation and blemishes. It also assists in transporting nutrients and oxygen to skin cells, and preventing dehydration, which can cause premature ageing.

Water can even make skin appear fuller since the hyaluronic acid that naturally exists in skin will pull in and hold the water for a wrinkle-plumping effect.

It is recommended to drink at least eight glasses of water each day, more if you’re active or live in a warm climate, for healthy, glowing skin.

Incorporate a daily, weekly and monthly skincare routine

When you leave anything and don’t maintain it, it will start to fall apart, or show signs of aging. Your skin is the same way. You need to give your skin attention and take care of it. Some ways to incorporate a daily skincare routine are:

-Exfoliate for smaller-looking pores

-Always use a gentle cleanser before bed, and apply a night cream

-Moisturize each day

-Use quality skincare products approved by a skincare professional

-Book a monthly facial to help clear out deep pores

In addition, make sure to choose skincare products specially designed for your skin type. Dry skin does not have the same needs as oily skin.

Don’t smoke

Not only is smoking extremely bad for your health, but smoking contributes to wrinkles which makes your skin look older.

Smoking also damages collagen and elastin which are the fibres that give your skin strength and elasticity. The repetitive facial movements you make when you smoke also contributes to wrinkles.

Manage stress

Stress can cause negative effects on your body, health, and skin. Stress can trigger breakouts and other skin problems and make your skin more sensitive.

Take action to manage your stress and encourage a healthy life and body. Get proper rest, exercise,  and make time to do things you enjoy, with people you enjoy!

Use sunscreen every single day

We know, we know – you’ve heard it a million times, but wearing SPF is the best way to prolong healthy, glowing skin.

When it comes to how to get flawless skin, know that ninety-percent of wrinkles are from sun exposure, it is so much easier to prevent the damage than it is to fix it afterwards. That means no slacking during winter months either!

For complete sun protection, stay out of the sun, but if you are going to be exposed, use a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15. Sunscreen isn’t a set it and forget it thing,  you need to reapply every few hours, or if you’re swimming apply more often.
